Peer-to-Peer Accountability:
Friends Don’t Let Friends Drive Distracted
Why peer-to-peer matters
Teens listen to each other more than anyone else. Peer pressure can push young drivers toward dangerous choices—but it can also protect them. When friends speak up, model safe behavior, and set group expectations, safe choices become second nature.
How it works
Peer-to-Peer Accountability equips students to:
-
Lead by example → putting phones away, buckling up, slowing down.
-
Challenge friends → creating pledge challenges and safe-driving competitions.
-
Educate peers → leading school presentations and awareness campaigns.
-
Build culture → making safety “just what we do” every time they get in a car.
Our Programs in Action
Pledge Challenges:
-
Teens commit to distraction free driving - and invite friends to do the same.
Peer- Led Presentations:
-
Students bring safe driving assemblies and workshops into schools.
Safe Ride Ambassadors:
-
Student leaders take on roles as designated texters, DJs, or “safety captains” in every ride.
Why It Works
-
Teens are most influenced by their peers in high school.
-
A confident passanger can prevent a crash before it starts.
-
When speaking up becomes normal, distraction and speed drop.
